Linkkit Team
Building the future of link management and analytics.
Until now, every link shortener made you choose between two things: use their domain and get a short link, or use your own domain and pay for an enterprise plan.
We didn't think that was a fair trade.
Starting today, every Linkkit user — including free plan users — can connect their own custom branded domain and use it on every short link they create.
What a branded domain actually means
When you create a short link without a branded domain, it looks like this:
bit.ly/x9k2p
When you create a short link with your own branded domain connected to Linkkit, it looks like this:
yourbrand.link/summer-sale
Same destination. Same redirect. Same analytics. Completely different impression. The branded version tells people exactly who is sending them somewhere before they even click. It looks intentional. It looks professional. It builds trust.
And that trust translates directly into clicks. Research consistently shows branded short links outperform generic shortener links on click-through rate — often by a significant margin.
How to set up your branded domain
Setting up a branded domain on Linkkit takes under five minutes. Here's the process:
Step 1 — Go to Domain Settings
In your Linkkit dashboard, open Settings and navigate to the Custom Domain section.
Step 2 — Enter Your Domain
Type the domain or subdomain you want to use. Most brands use a subdomain — like go.yourbrand.com or links.yourbusiness.com. This keeps your main domain clean while giving your links a home.
Step 3 — Add the DNS Record
Linkkit will show you a CNAME record to add to your domain's DNS settings. Log in to your domain registrar, find the DNS settings, and add the record:
Type: CNAME Name: go Value: linkkit.link
Step 4 — Verify
Come back to Linkkit and click Verify. DNS changes usually propagate within a few minutes.
Step 5 — Start Creating Branded Links
Once verified, every new link you create will automatically use your branded domain.
Why we made this free
Most link management platforms reserve branded domains for paid plans. It's one of the most common reasons people upgrade — not because they want more features, but because they simply want their name on their links.
We think that's the wrong approach. Your brand name belongs on your links from day one. Branded domains are part of the Linkkit free plan and always will be.
