Import Links (CSV)

Linkkit lets you upload multiple links at once by importing a CSV file. This is helpful when transferring links from another platform or when adding many links quickly without creating them individually.

If you have many links to create or migrate, Linkkit allows you to import them in bulk using a CSV file. Instead of creating links one by one, you can upload a spreadsheet containing multiple URLs and generate short links instantly.

This feature is especially useful when:

  • Migrating links from another platform

  • Launching large marketing campaigns

  • Managing product or affiliate links at scale

  • Importing existing links into a new workspace

With CSV import, you can upload dozens or hundreds of links at once and manage them from your Linkkit dashboard.

Before You Start

Before importing your links, make sure your CSV file is properly formatted.

A CSV (Comma Separated Values) file is a simple spreadsheet format that can be created using tools such as:

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Google Sheets

  • Apple Numbers

  • Any spreadsheet or text editor that supports CSV export

Each row in the file represents one link that will be created in Linkkit.

Step 1: Open the Import Tool

  • Log in to your Linkkit dashboard.

  • From the left sidebar menu navigate to:

  • Settings → Import → Bulk Import

  • This will open the CSV import tool where you can upload your file.

Step 2: Prepare Your CSV File

  • Create a CSV file containing the links you want to import.

  • A typical CSV structure may include columns such as:

destination_url, slug, title, description

Example:

https://yourwebsite.com/summer-sale, summer-sale, Summer Sale Campaign, Main landing page
https://yourwebsite.com/product-1, product1, Product Page, Featured product page
  • Column explanations:
    destination_url

The original URL where users will be redirected.

  • slug (optional)

Custom short link name. If left empty, Linkkit will generate one automatically.

  • title (optional)

Internal name used to identify the link in your dashboard.

  • description (optional)

Additional notes for internal link management.

Step 3: Upload the CSV File

  • Once your CSV file is ready:

    1. Open the Bulk Import page

    2. Click Upload CSV or drag and drop your file

    3. Confirm the file format

  • Linkkit will process the file and prepare the links for import.

Step 4: Review the Links

Before creating the links, Linkkit may display a preview of the data in your CSV file.

During this step you can:

  • Check that URLs are correct

  • Confirm slugs and titles

  • Detect formatting errors

If any rows contain invalid data, they may be skipped or flagged for correction.

Step 5: Import Your Links

  • After reviewing your data, confirm the import.

  • Linkkit will automatically generate the short links and add them to your dashboard.

  • Once completed, your links will appear in the Links section, where you can manage and track them.

Organize Imported Links

After importing links, you can improve their organisation by using Linkkit features such as:

  • Assigning links to segments

  • Adding UTM parameters for campaign tracking

  • Setting expiration dates or click limits

  • Updating custom slugs or titles

This helps keep your links organised and easier to manage.

Tips for Successful CSV Imports

To avoid errors during import, follow these best practices:

  • Ensure all URLs include https:// or http://

  • Use a comma ( , ) as the column separator

  • Keep each link on a separate row

  • Avoid duplicate slugs if using a custom short link

  • Verify the file is saved in .CSV format

If a slug already exists, Linkkit may generate a new one automatically or skip the entry depending on your settings.

Troubleshooting Import Errors

If your links fail to import:

  • Check the CSV file format

  • Confirm that URLs are valid

  • Remove duplicate slugs

  • Ensure the file is saved as .csv
